Posts and Presentation
An Abyss Spotlight page is built around two content blocks: the project presentation and its post feed. Together they give a clear view of what the project does and its latest updates.
Presentation
The presentation is the permanent section of the page. It highlights the stable elements of the project: what it does, who runs it, its main features, useful links.
- Markdown format — Use titles, lists, bold, links, code blocks via markdown syntax.
- Edit freely — the presentation can be edited at any time from the Spotlight project admin UI.
- Silent update — editing the presentation does not notify followers, unlike a post.
Take care of the presentation: it's the first content visitors and search engines see. A clear, structured presentation increases the visibility of your public page.
Posts
Posts are used to communicate project news: new feature, milestone reached, upcoming event, experience report. Each post is dated and appears in the public page feed, most recent first.
Create a post
- From the Spotlight project admin UI, open the Posts tab.
- Click Create.
- Write the content in markdown (title, body, media).
- Publish.
Follower notifications
When you publish a post, all project followers are automatically notified by email and through an Abyss notification. Pace your publications accordingly — a project that posts too often eventually exhausts its community.
Edit or delete a post
You can edit or delete a post from the same UI. Editing an already published post does not re-notify followers: use it to fix a typo, not to announce a new piece of news.
Key points
- Presentation = stable project description, in markdown, with no notification.
- Posts = dated news, notifies followers on publish.
- Both contents are public and indexable on the project's Spotlight page.
