Sharing content

Every Abyss item (board, draw, memo, cloud, form, Spotlight page…) has a Share menu that lets you broaden access beyond the initial scope.

Share targets

TargetAudienceUse case
UserA specific person (by email)Ask a colleague for feedback
TeamAll members of a teamPush to the Design team
OrganizationAll organization membersInternal-public document
ProjectAll members with project accessScope to a project
Public linkAnyone with the URL (no account)External sharing

Permission levels

For each share, you pick the access level:

  • VIEW — read-only
  • EDIT — can edit
  • MANAGE — can edit AND reshare

How to share

  1. Open the item
  2. Click Share (top right)
  3. Pick the target (user / team / organization / project / link)
  4. Pick the level (VIEW / EDIT / MANAGE)
  5. Confirm

The share applies immediately. The target sees the item appear in their list if they have the matching service permission (e.g. DRAW_READ to see a draw).

A public link gives access to anyone with the URL, no authentication required. Useful for:

  • sharing a draw with an external client
  • exposing a Spotlight page
  • opening a form to the public

You can revoke a public link at any time from the Share menu. The URL stops working immediately.

Effective permission

When several shares apply to the same user (e.g. a personal VIEW share + a team with EDIT), the effective permission is the max across all sources:

  1. Creator → always MANAGE
  2. ORG_FULL_ACCESS + admin view on → MANAGE on all org content
  3. Project access (for project content) → permission of the ProjectAccess
  4. Individual shares (USER, TEAM, ORGANIZATION, LINK)

Remove a share

Share menu → access list → ⋯ → Remove. The user or team loses access immediately.
